Black Country Communion
« on: August 03, 2017, 05:03:49 PM »
Noted blues guitarist and vocalist Joe Bonamassa and vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes (Trapeze/Deep Purple) started this super group also featuring Jason Bonham and Derek Sherinian (Dream Theatre) in 2009. Their debut self titled album was released in 2010. The band did not tour in support of the album, playing only two live shows in the UK. Planet Rock listeners none the less voted the band the best new band and band of the year.

Their second album Black Country Communion 2 released in 2011, following this release they performed a short tour of Europe as well as short US tour of seven shows in six states. The live album Live over Europe was released containing material from the Europe tour.

Their third album Afterglow was released in 2012, and again saw the band not put much effort in to touring to support the record. Hughes publicly blamed most of this on Bonamassa's solo touring schedule and the relationship between the two soured, this led to Bonamassa leaving the band and Hughes to shortly after concede that the band was disbanded. Derek Sherinian went on to join Bonamassa's solo touring band full time as Hughes and Bonham formed a new project California Breed with guitarist Andrew Watt.

In April of last year it was announced that Black Country Communion would be reuniting in 2017 to record a fourth album featuring all four original members. So first up is the new song stream from the forthcoming album BCCIV to be released September 22 entitled Collide.

This band captures the seventies classic rock sound about as good as anybody out there currently. How much touring will be undertaken this time around remains to be seen.

These guys kick some ass, and Glenn Hughes still sounds incredible at his age.
