Angel Witch is a British heavy metal band, another that came up through the NWOBHM movement. Formed in London in 1977 (originally as Lucifer, then changing their name to Angel Witch). The band early on consisted of mainstay guitarist/vocalist Kevin Heybourne, guitarist Rob Downing, drummer Steve Jones, and bassist Barry Clements. Lucifer split up and the remnants became Angel Witch. Kevin Riddles replaced Barry Clements, and Dave Hogg replaced drummer Steve Jones. Rob Downing left the following year. In 1980 their debut album Angel Witch was released on Bronze Records, and is considered one of the most notable of the NWOBHM albums. The band however soon after imploded as Dave Hogg was fired,  Kevin Riddles left the band and Heybourne dissolved the band.

Heybourne resurrected Angel Witch in 1982 with himself and two members of his band Deep Machine, vocalist Roger Marsden and drummer Ricky Bruce along with bassist Jerry Cunningham. This lineup was short lived and Cunningham was fired and Heybourne resumed vocal duties for a short time.

In 1984 a new lineup featuring Heybourne, vocalist Dave Tattum, bassist Peter Gordelier, and a returning Dave Hogg on drums released the album "Screamin' an Bleedin' " after which Hogg was again fired. Hogg was then replaced by drummer Spencer Hollman and the band released "Frontal assault" in 1986, which deviated heavily from their earlier material and was a more melodic offering.

2011 saw a new Angel Witch lineup featuring Heybourne, along with Will Palmer (bass), Bill Steer (guitar), and Andrew Prestige (drums) recorded the album "As Above, So Below".

The current band lineup is:
Kevin Heybourne- Lead vocals/guitar
Will Palmer- bass

Alan French- drums

Had that first record eons ago, good shit. shame they couldn't keep a consistent lineup together. Tough era to make it though, so many great bands were breaking out about that time.
