Helix

This band is trudging along, another band I'll put here because they're stint of mainstream popularity was in the 80's metal scene. Though they were actually formed way back in 1974 in Canada by drummer Bruce Arnold, along with vocalist Brian Vollmer (who still fronts the band today), guitarists Ron Watson and Rick Trembley, keyboardist Don Simmons and bassist Keith Zurbrigg. The best most well known lineup, however is the eighties lineup consisting of Vollmer along side guitarists Brent Doerner and Paul Hackman, bassist Daryl Gray, and drummer Greg Hinz. The bands history has seen numerous lineup changes over the years and I'm not typing all those  :D Paul Hackman was killed in a tour bus accident in 1992, The surviving members of the 80's lineup reunited in 2009 for an album and have continued to tour since 2011. Helix released two albums before changing their image over to the 80's metal look and were signed to Capital records in 1983 releasing the string of albums that brought them the most success No Rest for the Wicked (1983), Walkin the Razor's Edge (1984), Long Way to Heaven (1985), and to a lesser degree Wild in the Streets (1987). They went on to release seven more albums, the most recent being Bastard of the Blues (2014).

Studio releases:
Breaking Loose (1979)
White Lace & Black Leather (1981)
No Rest for the Wicked (1983)
Walkin' the Razor's Edge (1984)
Long Way to Heaven (1985)
Wild in the Streets (1987)
Back for Another Taste (1990)
It's a Business Doing Pleasure (1993)
Rockin in My Outer Space (2004)
The Power of Rock and Roll (2007)
A Heavy Mental Christmas (2008)
Vagabond Bones (2009)
Bastard of the Blues (2014)

Live releases:
Live at the Marquee (1984) promo live EP
half ALIVE (1998)
Live in Buffalo (2001)

EP'S
Get Up (2006)
Skin in the Game (2011)

Current Lineup:
Brian Vollmer: vocals (1974-present)
Greg Hinz: drums (1982-1996, 2009 to present)
Daryl Gray: bass, keyboards, piano (1984-2002, 2009-present)
Kaleb Duck: guitar (2009-present)
Chris Julke: guitar (2014-present)

Pretty good under rated band.

I love Helix. They're probably the one band I've seen the most of over the years. Not because I'm a huge fan, but because they play rock festivals that I regularly attend. Even then, I'll usually go see them when they're in town just because they put on a good rock show (as I write this, I have tickets to see them play a casino show with Kick Axe next month). I've met Brian Vollmer a couple times and he's a super great guy. He's getting up in age so he doesn't climb the rafters during a set anymore, but he's still a solid frontman.

One of my favourite tunes is Runnin' Wild in the 21st Century, which they usually open their set with. This video is the epitome of 90s Canadian Rock Music Video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9vAdCGfuAo

They also recently put out a cheeky tune called (Gene Simmons Says) Rock is Dead. Not the best tune, but it's got a decent chorus. And the video kinda sucks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uy4iJF0bEq8
"Does he talk about you so much it's an auto correct?"

Don't see them touring as much in the States I don't think, They regularly seem to tour Canada still though. Cool that you get to see them quite a bit. I liked that Rock is dead song and video I thought that was pretty cool. The other song was pretty decent.
