Helloween

Helloween is a German power metal band formed in Hamburg, Germany in 1984. Mostly known for their second and third album releases Keeper Of The seven Keys Part 1 and part 2, which are highly regarded masterpieces of the power metal genre.

Their original lineup on the 1984 debut album Walls of Jericho was:
Kai Hansen: vocals, guitar
Michael Weikath: guitar
Markus Grosskopf: bass
Ingo Schwichtenberg: drums

Michael Kiske joined the band as lead vocalist at the age of eighteen in 1986 and the band released Keeper Of The seven Keys, which is considered the album that began European Power Metal. Parts one and two of Keeper Of The seven Keys was initially meant to be released as a double album but their record label refused, insisting they release them separately. Thus they were released a year apart.

Pink Bubbles Go Ape their next release in 1991 marked the departure of Kai Hansen, who was replaced by Roland Grapow. The next release Chameleon released in 1993 was not well received as they pretty much abandoned their power metal format and it would be the last album with Michael Kiske as vocalist, as well as original drummer Schwichtenberg.

Andy Deris became the new vocalist and Uli Kusch the new drummer for 1994's Master Of The Rings release. This lineup remained the same until 2003's Rabbit Don't Come Easy album which saw Sascha Gerstner replacing Roland Grapow, and session musicians on drums including Mickey Dee (King Diamond/Motorhead fame) performing on many of the tracks. In 2005 with new drummer Dani Loble onboard the band released Keeper Of The Seven Keys (The Legacy). This lineup of Deris, Weikath, Gerstner, Grosskopf, and Loble have went on to release four more albums.
Gambling With The Devil (2007)
7 Sinners (2010)
Straight Out Of Hell (2013)
My God-Given Right (2015)

Michael Kiske went on to release four solo albums, and be involved in several projects including Avantasia, and Unisonic and has again began touring again with Unisonic in 2009 after a seventeen year road absence.

Man I wanna see that tour. They won't play many dates here they unfortunately wouldn't draw flies in the US. Those shows will only see a few hundred in attendance most likely, so I don't anticipate any or many added US dates.

Irving Plaza capacity is just over 1000.  And no way they'll get the stage production in there at all.  Saw the show in Stuttgart back in November and it was close to sold out if not sold out (8000) Michael Kiske's voice is really just amazing and have been a fan of all the projects he's done (Avantasia, Place Vendome, Unisonic, etc).  They open with Halloween with him and Andi Deris trading vocals.  Andi has stepped up vocally on this tour.  I was really impressed with how good he sounded. They trade off songs with one vocalist off stage while the other sings and then trading vox on some of the bigger songs.  Nice video tribute to Ingo too.   And the three guitarists worked well also.  Kai needs a new wig though lol.  Kai did have a guitar/wireless malfunction but handled it with humor.  Long set well worth the money.  If you can get to one of the North American shows do it.
