Total different gear here. Yes that Funkadelic, The long running funk band and with the off shoot Parliament R&B stuff, led by George Clinton and Bootsy Collins. But these guys played the music, played real instruments. Bernie Worrell was one of the most copied and sampled keyboard/synthesizer players in that whole genre and inspired the likes of the Dr. Dre's and production of many of the later day artists in that genre. Back in their earlier days these guys leaned more on the Psychedelic and hard rock edge of things, thanks in large part to guitarist Eddie Hazel (who should be much wider known within the rock world than he is given credit for, very Hendrix like in approach, and had to be an inspiration to Prince among others. Bernie Worrell was VERY good as well.

I only like their harder edged rock/psych/funk mix stuff. So here are a handful of those.

Eddie and Bernie could play there's no doubt. Clinton and Collins were huge pioneers of the funk genre. But the rock based stuff is certainly worth mention.
