Big Brother and the Holding Company
« on: June 23, 2016, 08:40:49 PM »
Big Brother and the Holding Company is an American rock band that formed in San Francisco in 1965 as part of the same psychedelic music scene that produced the Grateful Dead, Quicksilver Messenger Service, and Jefferson Airplane. They are best known as the band that featured Janis Joplin as their lead singer. Their 1968 album Cheap Thrills is considered one of the masterpieces of the psychedelic sound of San Francisco; it reached number one on the Billboard charts, and was ranked number 338 in Rolling Stone's the 500 greatest albums of all time. The album is also included in the book 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.

Just wanted to bitch a little about commercial radio.
Big Brother and the Holding Company which Janis Joplin was a member of,
made some great music together and it pisses me off every time i hear one of those great songs on commercial radio like Piece of my Heart which is Big Brother sounding great and they announce it as Piece of my Heart by Janis Joplin. I loved Janis but that song is by Big Brother and the Holding Company and thats rock and roll history who the hell do they think they are stating it otherwise!!!!

Your absolutely right on that one. It's always only stated as Janis Joplin on the radio, that band never gets any deserved credit, I never really thought about it but your observation is 100% correct.
