Foghat
« on: June 01, 2016, 05:15:29 PM »
Classic 70's band spinoff of Savoy Brown formed in 1971 by Lonesome Dave Peverett (vocals), Rod Price lead/slide guitar, Tony Stevens (bass) and Roger Earl (drums). Tony Stevens left in 1975 (replaced by Craig MacGregor) who played on the multi platinum Foghat Live album. Rod Price left the band in 1980 (replaced by Erik Cartwight). Foghat had a string of eight gold and two platinum records through the seventies. Craig MacGregor left the band in 1982, before returning in 1984 to join Roger Earl in a Lonesome Dave-Less Foghat that continued touring into the early 90's, along with beginning in 1990 a second incarnation of Foghat led by Lonesome Dave and occasionally featuring Rod Price. In 1993 the original lineup reunited and released "Return Of The Boogie men" in 1994 and then the live album "Road Cases" in 1998. Price retired from touring and the band again broke up in 1999. I was fortunate enough to get to see the band once with Lonesome Dave and Rod Price before both passed away (Dave in 2000, and Rod in 2005) both were only in their mid fifties when they died. I have also seen the current lineup a few times. Foghat's current lineup consists of Roger Earl (drums), Craig MacGregor (bass), Bryan Bassett (guitar), and Charlie Huhn (vocals/guitar), they released the album "Last Train Home" in 2010 and a couple live releases and are currently working on a new album.

Nothing can top the classic lineup of Lonesome Dave and Rod Price's blistering slide guitar but still a worthwhile band to catch live.

Not bad at all. I dig this singer. Dave's no longer with us to sing it. This guy does it justice for sure. Band sounds great, and glad to see they making new music as well.

Forgot to add this on. CRR review of the new album. I usually don't buy too many releases from the old way back bands, cause most are usually disappointments. This one I will pick up.
