Two of Heart's early lineup members. Bassist Steve Fossen and drummer Michael DeRosier have been out touring a band they call HEART BY HEART, supplemented on lead guitar by the one and only Randy Hansen. They have two girls in the lineup, lead singer Somar Macek and Lizzy Daymont (guitar, keyboards, vocals).
Steve Fossen was an original member before the band even morphed into and took the name Heart dating back to the late 60's. DeRosier joined the band full time after drumming on two of the songs on the debut Dreamboat Annie album (four different drummers actually split duties on the sessions for that album). Both of them remained through the bands initial run of success and hits, both leaving the band after 1982's Private Audition album, which saw the bands success waning (They were replaced by Mark Andes and Denny Carmassi respectively) this new lineup released Passionworks, which was another subpar record but did yield a hit with How Can I Refuse, which led up to the 1985 self titled release and massive comeback (thanks in large part to MTV) which lasted until the Brigade album in 1990, Howard Leese's last with the band. I don't think it's much of a surprise that with Leese's departure the band never regained any of their previous glory. My opinion, but I think the facts show that to be the case. This band was a force to be reckoned with in the seventies.
This Heart By Heart lineup is doing the stuff justice. Good lead singer, tight band and Randy Hansen is a great guitarist. They are playing the Sellersville Theatre in PA August 9th.

They performed three songs at a benefit concert. The first time in thirty one years the four had played together. Pretty cool.
