Arthur Brown
« on: November 29, 2015, 05:35:28 PM »
He was a forerunner of shock rock and progressive rock, influencial to Heavy Metal showmanship and his operatic vocal style. He was Psychedelic, had deep twisting lyrics, He wore the corpse and demonic like face paint long before kiss and king diamond and a flaming helmet headset on fire live.

He started in 1967 as The Crazy World of Arthur Brown which at its peak consisted of Brown (vocals), Vincent Crane (organ), and Carl Palmer (ELP- drums), This band released one album "The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown" with the massive hit FIRE. The band did two full tours and could have been huge but broke up by 1970. The album "Tantric Lover" with a reunited lineup was released in 2000. Strangelands (The lost second album) was released in 1988 (if you can find it)

His next band was KINGDOM COME formed not long after the breakup of The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown. They released three theme/concept related albums
Gallactic Zoo Dozier (1971)
Kingdom Come (1972)
Journey (1973)

In 1975 he appeared as the priest in The Who's rock opera movie Tommy, and vocals on a song on the Alan Parson's project album Tales of Mystery and Imagination. In 1998 he had a spoken word piece on Bruce Dickinson's Chemical Wedding album. He has changed musical styles over the years ranging from acoustic, dance, odd abstract music and a return to the Crazy World Of Arthur Brown nostalgia. He has released several albums along the way since The Kingcome Come breakup. Some of which is REALLY out there, I recommend giving those a listen prior to purchase as some of it is quite odd. But there are always flashes of brilliance as well.

Dance (1975)
Chisholm in my bosum (1977)
Faster than the speed of light (w/Vincent Crane 1979)
Speak no tech (1981) re released in 1984 as The complete tapes of atoya
Requiem (1982)
Brown, Black and Blue (1988)
Strangelands: 1989 (Crazy World of Arthur Brown second album recorded in 1969)
Tantric Lover (2000) with a different new Crazy World lineup
Vampire Suite (2003) with a different new Crazy World lineup
The voice of love (2007)
Zim Zam Zim (2013) a pledge campaign release with a different new Crazy World lineup.

there are 4 live albums listed in their discography but I've yet to find any of these, they may be bootlegs:
Order from Chaos (1993) Crazy world of Arthur Brown
Jam recorded in 1970 with kingdom Come
The Legboot album (2002)
Live at High voltage festival (2011)

Drachen Theaker drums (19671968; died 1992 from a Brain Tumor) Played with Arthur Lee's Love and The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown

Theaker was replaced because of his aviophobia  Fear Of Flying in 1968 by drummer Carl Palmer, later of Atomic Rooster, Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Asia for the band's second American tour in 1969, on which keyboardist Vincent Crane also left - although he soon returned.

The line-up practically dissolved on US tour in June 1969. Crane and Palmer left to form Atomic Rooster, Greenwood (known as Sean Nicholas during his stay in CWOAB) went on to Khan (as Nick Greenwood), Theaker to Love and then Rustic Hinge, and Brown to Kingdom Come.

The band re-formed in 2000 and released Tantric Lover.
