Grim Reaper
« on: August 31, 2016, 04:23:51 PM »
Time to put Steve Grimmett and the boys up as Steve and his new lineup of Grim Reaper prepare to release their new release Walking In The Shadows on September 23, 2016.

Originally formed in England in 1979 during the NWOBHM era by Nick Bowcott. They released their debut See You In Hell in 1984 with the lineup of Steve Grimmett (vocals), Nick Bowcott (guitars), Dave Wanklin (bass) and Lee Harris (drums). Fear No Evil followed in 1985 with Marc Simon replacing Lee Harris on drums. Rock You To Hell their third release featured the same lineup as Fear No Evil. Legal battles with Ebony Records delayed the release of Rock You To Hell by almost two years and work on the next record to follow fell apart due to continued legal issues with the label and the band disbanded prematurely in 1988. Grimmett then went on to front Onslaught and Lions Heart. Bowcott became a freelance writer for Circus and Guitar World.

In 2006 Steve Grimmett reformed Grim Reaper and they played the Keep It True Festival, the band has appeared at other festivals from 2006 through the present and has toured sporadically. In 2014 they played their first US show since 1988 and were joined by Nick Bowcott.

The current lineup of Steve Grimmett's Grim Reaper:
Steve Grimmett: vocals
Richie Yeates: guitars
Chaz Grimaldi: bass
Paul White: drums

A short lived band with a limited discography but one that should be heard. always liked Grimmett's vocals and Bowcott was no slouch on guitar.

Video premier for Walking In The Shadows. Really liking this tune, not too far off the path from their old stuff. Steve still has most of his vocal style sounds good. And great to see positive comments for it on Blabbermouth (imagine that).

This sucks, Steve Grimmett had to have his leg amputated below the knee, due to an infection. I'd guess that was probably Diabetes related. I know a few people who lost part of their leg/legs from that. Leslie West also lost a leg to Diabetes in recent years as far as rock performers.

Nice to Steve Grimmett back out and performing again since having his leg partially amputated. Steve's Grim Reaper played on July 15th at the Bang Your Head Festival in Germany, his first live show since the foot infection surgery.

Steve Grimmett's Grim Reaper footage at Keep It True XXI Festival April 27th. He's a tough bastard after his unfortunate medical situation. Good to see he didn't let it shut him down.
