King Crimson has always been a major underground favorite of the Prog fan base. Starting in 1968 with Robert Fripp, Ian Mcdonald ( a later founding member of Foreigner) and Greg Lake (ELP) as the initial vocalist. this lineup produced two masterpiece records in "In the court of the crimson king" and "In the wake of Poseidon", upon that version of the banks complete breakup Fripp resurfaced with a new band that produced a couple albums before that bands complete undoing and it was then that the next incarnation of the band featuring Bill Bruford and John Wetton would commence, they too would only last a few years, This lineup would produce the great "Starless and bible black" and "Red albums" along with the awesome "USA" live album. This band is very difficult to keep track of all the changes as it has been a revolving door of musicians since pretty much it's inception. Another lineup in the 80's appeared showcasing Fripp, Bill Bruford, Adrian Belew, and Tony Levin. This lineup produced three very solid albums in " Three of a perfect pair", "discipline" and "Beat" along with a few live recordings. Different lineups came throughout the 90's and yet different lineups into 2000 and beyond, Its hard to keep up with them all but the three lineups mentioned above were the most successful of them. This is a band you either love or hate, One of those bands that were always veering down the unbeaten path. Some of their music is brilliant, some of it quite a snooze fest, and some just utter disjointed noise, but there is a good amount of highlight material from this band over the years. I'll put up some examples of those moments here and there as I dig them up. Definitely a band worth checkin out. It's much easier to seek out the stuff of recommendation from this band, if you just bought a record or two on a whim, chances are you wouldn't make it much further than that.
