Finally, signs of activity as the Lizzy Borden website finally shows a new graphic and coming soon announcement of a revamped website. I don't know whatever happened to that projected last May new single and last August album but hopefully it is finished and ready for release.  ;D

Better late than never  ;D that website was down for over a year. He said on his facebook page about this time last year that a single was forthcoming in May and a new album by August, not to mention he signed a record deal, not sure what the hold up has been.

Lizzy Returns Finally. New album "My Midnight Things" out on June 15th. Title track released sounds good, similar to the Master of Disguise album to my ears. Good tune, can't wait to hear the rest of the album. I preordered cd/tee shirt bundle. It mentions bonus tracks on the limited first edition cd  8)

Bring on some tour dates. Other than him and Joey, not sure who plays on this release judging from this article it may be similar to Master of Disguise as well and feature a sessions lineup. He mentions putting together a touring band. So not sure that Ira Black is still involved, hopefully Marten Anderson is though.

Another new track from the upcoming album released. This one is a little more commercial sounding, so far these two are more tame and radio friendly songs. He definitely, listening to these two tracks and looking at the song titles is going more for the theatrical and visual presentation similar to Master of Disguise, which is ok with me cause I love that record but it took a little time to grow on me because it was much more mellower than his other stuff. I do hope there are some heavier songs on this one though. His voice is still great and sounds really good.

I don't have a problem with him wanting to be creative and try and do a visual and theatric presentation with this because he is going to supposedly play a good bit of this live. It really wouldn't matter whether he made a metal album or a more melodic one. The reality is he is only going to sell so many copies, and I'm sure he knows that, so he may as well do what he wants to do.

Both of those are decent, yeah hope for a few harder edged songs on the record. I guess Marten Anderson checked out of this one or Lizzy wouldn't be talking about putting together a touring lineup. So it appears both Marten and Ira Black are out of the picture.

Here is another recent interview with Lizzy, this one with Bravewords.
 http://bravewords.com/features/lizzy-borden-embracing-the-midnight-hour

I had preordered this album so I got my copy last week a few days before the official release date. I gave it a good spin through and listen over this past weekend. IMO there are five strong tracks that I really liked on the record, the rest is kind of redundant or just kind of ok filler at first listen. The strong point is Lizzy's voice sounds really good and the five songs I like to my ears are catchy good songs. There is not a lot of screaming nor is there a lot of heavy jamming or guitar solo's. The album is a more commercial radio friendly type listen very much in the vein of Master of Disguise. If you liked that album you'll like most of this one. If you were expecting the harder edged heavier guitar type stuff your not going to find much of it on this record as Lizzy performed all the guitar and bass parts himself. Last I checked nobody would be confusing him any time soon with Blackmore, Malmsteen, Vai, Satriani etc etc.

The standout tracks for me are two that were already posted up on here that were the first two that were released for public consumption. My Midnight Things and Long May They Haunt Us, in addition to those two, My Midnight Things Reprise may be my favorite on the album and this one has a major Master of Disguise feel. rounding out the five are The Perfect Poison and We Belong To The Shadows.

Overall It's great to hear new Lizzy Borden though as I have always been a major fan. Bring on the tour dates. I've only managed to see him twice both on the Deal With The Devil tour R.I.P. Alex Nelson.

This is nice to see, as reported on Classic Rock Revisited.

LIZZY BORDEN STORMS BILLBOARD CHARTS WITH FIRST ALBUM IN 11 YEARS, ‘MY MIDNIGHT THINGS’

It turns out that the time away from the music scene has not dulled the appetites of hard rock fans for Lizzy Borden, as his new album, ‘My Midnight Things,’ has already left a deep impression on five different Billboard charts. These placings include #11 on Top New Artist Albums, #17 on Current Hard Music Albums, #43 on Top New Artist Albums Consumption, #46 on Independent Current Albums, and #148 on Top 200 Current Albums. Additionally, the album also made the Canadian charts - hitting #84 on Top Hard Music Charts.

“We live in a streaming world now, where everyone gets their music for free,” explains Lizzy. “But I want to personally thank all the great Lizzy Borden fans out there who shopped online or drove down to your local mom and pop music store and actually paid for my new album. You guys got Lizzy Borden back on the charts! And the fact that you've all embraced ‘My Midnight Things’ in such an amazing way is the icing on the cake. Thanks again, and I will see you all soon on the ‘My Midnight Things’ tour!”

Released on June 15th via Metal Blade Records, ‘My Midnight Things,’ can also be ordered via metalblade.com/lizzyborden in the following formats:

--limited 1st edtion Digipak-CD (includes bonus tracks)
 --jewelcase-CD
 --180g black vinyl
--clear pacific blue marbled vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 300 copies)
--clear burgundy marbled vinyl (EU exclusive - limited to 200 copies)
--olive/black marbled vinyl (US exclusive - limited to 300 copies)
--opaque cool gray marbled vinyl (US exclusive - limited to 200 copies)
 * exclusive bundles with a shirt, plus digital options are also available!

And fans can get a taste of what to expect on the album via its first video, for the standout track, “Long May They Haunt Us”:

Having signed a new contract with Metal Blade on the strength of three demo tracks, Borden opted to produce ‘My Midnight Things’ himself, with Joey Scott as co-producer, who also handled all the drumming duties. “I knew what I was going for and had doubts that I could find a producer who would understand that,” Borden explains. “My approach is very different than what is happening in today's current sound.”

The album was also mixed by Greg Fidelman (Metallica, Black Sabbath, Adele, U2) and mastered by Tom Baker (David Bowie, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, Tom Petty). And the album is already receiving rave reviews, including Alt Revolt, Pure Grain Audio, and Royal Flush:

“Borden paints a ten-song art gallery show and lets the listener decide what he or she sees on the canvas.” --Alternative Revolt Magazine

“Catchy riffs and melodies that are sure to be trapped inside your head, bouncing around your skull for days to come.” --PureGrainAudio

“The resulting creation yielded what is arguably the strongest vocal performance of Borden’s career. --Royalflushmagazine.com

And with the multiple chart placings in North America, demand for Lizzy Borden’s music is unquestionably at an all-time high amongst metalheads!
