Yeah, Seeing Bonham do some Zep and Hagar I'm sure does his hits plus some VH with Michael. I'd like to check out Saxon, and who knows how much longer Mogg/Raymond and Parker are gonna keep goin and how many more times they'll get to the US let alone Philly, plus the TLA is a cool venue and close by.
I'm gonna do the UFO show, I know they have gotten a few lackluster reviews lately, so I may as well check them out one last time and see Saxon who I've never seen.

The new "covers album" from UFO "Salentino Cuts" is available for pre order. The album is being released on Cleopatra records for a September release. Some pretty cool song choices they chose to do. Can't wait to hear this.

Went to the UFO show last night at the TLA in Philly. What a great show that was. Pretty decent crowd for a Tuesday night. Very loud and enthusiastic crowd. Phil Mogg was excellent with his English humor between song banter having everyone laughing on quite a few occasions.

Good set list. From what I can remember, they opened with We Belong To The Night, followed by (not in order) Run Boy Run, Let It Roll, Mother Mary, Lights Out, Rock Bottom, Too Hot To Handle, Cherry, Burn Your House Down, Ain't No Baby, Love To Love, Messiah Of Love, and two separate encores Doctor, Doctor and then Shoot, Shoot. Oh and Only You Can Rock Me I believe they also played.

Phil sounded great, the band seemed to feed off the crowd energy and really bring it last night. Vinny was on his A game (pretty much a local show for him, being from New Castle County Delaware). Andy Parker and Paul Raymond were spot on and Rob DeLuca was excellent on bass. Great Show! If you get the chance to catch them on this North American tour I highly recommend it.

Rock Bottom smoked as did Let It Roll, Too Hot To Handle, Mother Mary and a couple others hopefully he adds them up, if so I'll post them.

Unfortunately I have to say I agree with this lackluster review from Classic Rock Revisited regarding UFO's new covers album. This could have been a cool thing back in Phil's prime and probably better suited for back when Pete Way was there with either the Schenker or Chapman era's, this just doesn't have any teeth or staying power and is just mediocre at best bar band karaoke. This wasn't worth the time they spent on it.

So as big a fan of UFO as Trunk his, he totally muffed the Best Album Closer top 5 on TMS.  He never mentioned Love To Love off of Lights Out which I think along with Diary Of A Madman are the two best album closers ever.

As much as I like Vinnie Moore as a guitarist, his solos are too technically good, lacking feeling at times on the older songs live.  But short of Michael coming back, I don't know who else I'd like to see with them.  At this point it's more about getting along together on the road.  And Vinnie has been with them a long time now.

Lights Out is one of my desert island albums.  There isnt a bad track for me on that album.  Walk On Water (the return of the classic lineup from the mid 90's) is my other favorite.  Whole band sounded great on that one.

My favorite Phil story was when they opened for Ozzy at Madison Square Garden in April of 1982.  It was the third show after Randy Rhoads got killed in the plane crash.  About halfway thru their set Phil starts rearranging the monitor wedges on stage.  Some crew member comes out into the photo pit and fixes them.  Phil moves them again.  Crew member fixes and yells at Phil.  Phil then stands them up on their ends.  Two more crew come out and all are yelling at Phil from the pit.  Phil is fighting them as they are trying to put the monitors down.  Good times lol  >:D

Love to Love is great agreed and an awesome album closer. I however give the nod to Phenomenon over Lights Out as my favorite UFO album, and that albums closer Queen Of The Deep is ass kicker as well, give that one another listen. That entire album is perfection in my opinion.

Paul Chapman is teaching guitar in Florida, I wouldn't mind seeing him come back in the fold with a set list heavy on the Chapman era songs, while Phil can still do it because I don't know how much longer he will be able to. That said I like Vinny, I'm cool with Vinny. Interestingly, if you look it up, Chapman was lined up to be the guitarist for the 1993 reunion but they ended up getting Schenker on board instead. Walk On Water does kick ass. I got to see that tour in a night club in north Jersey packed in like a sardine. That show kicked major ass though.

Never got to see Michael with UFO, was always wrong place wrong time for seeing him with them after Walk On Water.  Saw them last summer at a UK festival and band is scary tight but Phil is becoming a shadow of his former self vocally.  Age is just cruel to most singers.  He isnt at Coverdale/Ian Anderson level yet though.
