For those old enough to remember when MTV ruled the air waves. What were your favorite classic (cheesy or otherwise) video's or ones that stood out to you.

Headbanger's ball?
Closet Classics?

MTV had a profound effect on 80' music and especially Heavy Metal and the Hair band genre.

Being from Canada, I didn't get much of a chance to watch MTV, though I always watched it when we went down to visit our American relatives in Minnesota. Growing up, I had a steady diet of shows like Video Hits, Good Rockin' Tonight and Friday Night Videos.

Much Music, the Canadian version of MTV, was awesome. Our version of Headbangers Ball was The Power Hour. I had about 6 VHS tapes packed of all my favourite metal, rock and pop videos. And the more I think about it, the more I'm sure that without music videos, I probably wouldn't be as into music as I am today. It really was a great way to get music into people's homes.

Videos I can think of off the top of my head that I thought were totally awesome:

Van Halen - Hot for Teacher
Queensryche - Queen of the Reich
ZZ Top - Sleeping Bag
David Lee Roth - Just a Gigolo / I Ain't Got Nobody

and Thriller, natch.

I could post a few hundred more but will leave it at that for now. Goddamn love 80s music videos, man.
That Man/Machine Imperfection guy didn't post too much, but he was pretty much always right.

Also being from Canada I can relate to Rockox's post.  Man, I had a bit of a crush on Video Hits' host Samantha!  Much Music was on all the time.  I used to love the "Spotlight" shows where they would focus on one artist and play 4-5 videos plus some snippets of interviews.  The local TV Guide would also list which artist was spotlighted!  My parents used to record episodes of Friday Night Videos and we would watch on Saturday morning.  Some of my favorite videos from those times:

- Most of the ZZ Top videos (my favorites were Sharp Dressed Man and TV Dinner)
- Thriller (I was only 8 or 9 years old and remember being very scared watching it LOL)
- Other MJ classics such as Beat It, Billie Jean.
- Twisted Sister!!  I loved the "mean" dad in those ha ha.
- Some of the "New Wave" artists such as A-Ha, Gary Numan, Peter Schilling.
- Huey Lewis and The News had fun videos tto
- This is when I was also introduced to "hair metal" bands and I have a soft spot for that genre.
- INXS had awesome videos, and they were my favorite band for a long time.

Great times!!

Bonham: A long lost great song. liked this singer, Very Zeppelin like. This kinda reminds me of the kinda direction Zeppelin might have gone in after In Through The Out Door.
