The voice of heavy metal.

Love the Rainbow and Sabbath albums with RJD.

Holy Diver and Last in Line are just epic.

My biggest regret in life is not growing up with an appreciation of heavy metal. I've only really been a metalhead for about 4 or 5 years, so by the time I knew about the greatest singer to ever live, he had already passed on. Holy Diver, Heaven and Hell, Strange Highways, Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow, and The Last in Line would all definitely be on my top 15 albums of all time. The self-titled by Elf would also be up pretty high, mostly because of this track:

Fantastic track. Incredible how from here to The Devil You Know, about 30 years later, he still maintained the same control, power, and passion.
What's becoming of me?

I'm just thankful we were able to get one last Sabbath run w/ RJD before he passed away.

The Devil You Know is an amazing album and the Live Neon Knights was a great farewell for him.

What a voice and what a man!

If you haven't checked it out, make sure to check out the Hear N Aid project; I keep hearing rumors that may be re-released at some point.

I was very fortunate to have seen Dio on the Last In Line, Sacred Heart, and Dream Evil tours...and then many years later with Heaven and Hell.  He was an absolute LEGEND.

THIS ^ and Follow The Tears is by far one of this fans favorites everything about that song screams classic, in fact it's right up there with any of the members previous material!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMQAKbrWhoI

Disclaimer.... if you don't want to hear this then don't click it! However if you want to find out where Ronnie started and this goes back past Elf you need to look at Ronnie & The Prophets and yes the guy has come a long way since the doo wop days!

Interesting find.  However, I could never get into the sound of Elf and definitely could never get into that doo wop music.

Regardless, Dio rules!!

I saw him with Craig Goldy on gtr with Motorhead opening, then Dio, then Iron Maiden back in the early 2k's.

Loved him in his solo career through Sacred Heart.  Didn't have the same fire sans Campbell as a band, but his voice never disappointed, which made up for it.

The quintessential heavy metal voice.

Leave it to Marty to find something so obscure. Loved it.
