Yeah that was a lackluster performance of Silent Lucidity, agreed.

So here we go dig in, here is the first full complete show posted. This is broken up in two parts, first being the Rage For Order set, followed by the full Empire set plus encores. This is the Kjerdrum, Kulterhuset Norway show from Friday night 1/24/20.

I'm starting to listen to it now as I type this, whoah..the vocal leadoff to Walk in the Shadows sounded like somebody just stepped on the cat's tail ouch  :o :D I hope it gets better from here  8)

I'm up to Surgical Strike, so far he sounds better than I was honestly expecting, but I'm gonna have to watch and listen to the whole thing a couple times to form a serious overall opinion and not just a knee jerk first reaction. But thus far it looks like it will be worth every bit of the $35 (including service fees) I paid for my philly ticket.

Edit- It's definitely decent, certainly not an embarrassment by any stretch and I give him credit for even attempting the whole Rage album at this stage.

Yeah I agree that most of the Rage set was decent to quite good.  There's still a gummy/nasal tone in his low voice that irks me, but since those vocals are not as important in the Rage album he could focus on his improved high voice (except for whatever the hell he was supposed to be doing after the solo on Walk in the Shadows or the end of Screaming in Digital).

The Empire set, on the other had, really disappointed me.  The gummy/nasal low vocals are all over the place, but it's also night and day between the effort and quality Tate puts into the two albums.  If it was too much to do both in one night, then he should have just split two gigs per venue over two nights with each album getting a night.

Also, his young band are no prodigies by any stretch.  Yax kindly mentioned in another post here that the drummer came in on very short notice.  I also understand that the guitarist who isn't a significant other of one of Tate's children is brand new as well.  I'll try not to hold their inexperience with these songs against them, but it just sounds so wrong to have a tour commemorating these two fantastic albums without a top notch band.

Finally got a chance to watch those in their entirety. Quite enjoyable I must say. Yeah, aside from the occasional struggle here and there he pulled it off quite well. Some songs sounded pretty damn good, others were at least done respectably. I agree that I think the Rage set was better than the Empire set, I guess doing both is a daunting task. The band is nothing to brag about but overall they did an adequate job.

I was pleasantly surprised, I thought he did a great job on most of it. The band, yeah they are adequate at best, but vocally he was in the ballpark. Not a bad listen at all. Not as big of a fan of Empire but it was cool hearing a few of the good songs that haven't been played all that much. Crowd seemed to enjoy it looked like a good time. I'm sure improvements will be made after they get several more shows under their belt. I would rate that show at about an 8.5 using the ten scale.

I finally watched/listened to both sets as well (thanks for posting them, NJF). Tate is early enough into his touring schedule that I hope he can tidy up some of the problems he's having (or at least had during this particular performance). Most if not all of his set is downtuned from the original recordings, and some songs sound better than others in this regard, but he's still (understandably) struggling in a few areas. I hope he realizes that some "money notes" are really not necessary – or frankly even expected – for him to deliver a solid performance. Who knows, maybe he didn't give himself enough time to rewrite some of the original melodies and he's just going for broke. I think he could really benefit from leaving a few higher passages out in order to maintain his voice. Moments like after the "London" solo is a good indication of what I mean, where he blasts out an impressive high note but then beefs it on the rest of the song. I think his performance here is relatively solid, though with a little work, he could make it something really special.

As for the band, kudos to that drummer for stepping in and keeping everything going. There's certainly a ton of stuff that is missed, but that's expected if he only had 3 goddamn days to learn everything. That said, I think this drummer is better than a few other drummers Tate has toured with, hahaha. The rest of the band is serviceable and sound as good as you can expect them to. Sometimes it seems like the band is singing backups fairly well and other times there's a little too much obvious playback for my tastes. I'm sure it all sounds better live.

It's a bit better than I was expecting, but there are for sure some things Tate could do in order to help deliver a better performance. Hopefully he gets those things ironed out so he can really knock one out of the park.

I watched both sets all the way through a few times now. I thoroughly enjoyed this show. The band isn't perfect but they are doing a decent enough job. Geoff sounded pretty good for early on in the tour, if he can tie up a few loose ends and clean it up a bit with some more dates under his belt, by the time they get to Philly next month this should be a pretty damn good show. I don't mind a little down tuning, I still can enjoy it, it wasn't that much of a detriment to my ears.

Where is Scott Mouton, I liked him over all the other guitarists Geoff has had in the band. I wonder if he will back for the US tour leg and just didn't travel to Europe or if that new guy stage left will be on the whole tour. Also assume the other drummer that was slated to be in the lineup will return at some point too.

Agree Rock I did notice a lot of playback- pre recorded effects and backup.

The stage show, setup and effects are relatively missing in action. With only those cheesy Insania backdrops and looks really fuckin low budget. Queensryche's stage set up, effects and show looks bad ass so far for their tour by comparison. I wonder if they'll have a better production when the US dates start. The Mindcrime show I saw last year wasn't much of a bigger production but a little bit better than what this showed.

For those who care, and have access to DIME:
The very first show of the tour is out there, with no less than 3 different sources >:D

http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=666816
http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=666955

So, I'm not at all familiar with this Dime site. How exactly does this site work? and is it a recognized legal site? Give me the rundown on this site and how it works if you could Setzer, and/or anybody else who maybe has used this site. I'm assuming for starters you have to set up an account and join the site?

Unless it’s changed, Dime works in kind of a gray area.  They will only host what they call “recordings of indeterminate origin” or something to that effect, so they won’t allow anything that was been released legitimately, including radio shows that are later released.  They only allow a limited number of members last I checked, so theres usually a waiting list to sign up.  They also have pretty strict rules about your share ratio - in other words, you can’t just get on and leech off everyone else without sharing. This doesn’t mean you have to provide new stuff, it just means that once you’ve downloaded things you have to keep them in your torrent queue so that others can benefit from the availability (which is why bit torrent is so efficient).

You know how Tate always said that "for whatever reason" Queensryche never performed Anybody Listening live much? I think it's because he can't sing that first verse. He just can't find the note. Man, that is tough to listen to.

Yeah. Anybody Listening is one of the ones he hasn't even come close to getting anywhere near what I would consider a quality version thus far and it doesn't seem to be improving much the more he sings it.

I don't know if it's just the recording quality or what, but anybody else hearing the echo in some of those (notably on Gonna Get Close to You and a few others) where it almost sounds like he's singing over the backing track and it isn't synched up on time?
