Queensryche 2018 Show Reviews & Tour Discussion
« on: January 30, 2018, 01:54:17 AM »
On to a new year of Live show reviews and tour discussion.

I guess I might have to make my return to M3 this year as the band has announced they will be performing at this years festival on May 5th, It may be my only chance to catch them before later in the year, so I may have to jump on that one. If Scott isn't back by then I give up hope on his return as it will at that point have been over a year since he took leave.

Queensryche is headlining the Saturday lineup, which also includes Ace Frehley, the full lineup is below. I refuse to do two nights and have to stay over so unfortunately I will miss Faster Pussycat on Friday night  :( hopefully they play a club show around me that week while they are in the area.

This is a cool podcast review of the New York Turning Stone show from 2-2-18 along with some interesting band related chat.

It looks like they are teaming up with the Scorpions again later this year as support for their Crazy World tour. Not sure how extensive of a  US tour they are doing but so far five dates.
8/31 Nevada
9/2 Irvine, CA
9/7 San Antonio, TX
9/12 Ft. Lauderdale, FL
9/14 Tampa, FL
While mixing in some headline dates

They also added Phoenix on 9/5. Radio station KSLX is giving away tickets this weekend, a "win-before-you-buy" promo.

Some of the recent posts on the facebook page are saying after the new album release a new set list will be unveiled, this has been the official response to some posts regarding wanting to hear the newer material live. I also noticed that most of the shows in June featured a 17 song set list.

If they could bump that number up just a couple more songs. Ideally twenty, but I'll take two more for a total of nineteen. If they did that. I say they should play ten classics and nine Todd era songs (could do three from each record Todd has performed on). I think this is the perfect time to go out on that limb and fucking do it. They have played it safe now for about six years pandering mostly to the nostalgia and the whole return to the classic era thing, which was cool but now it's time to go out on a limb and burn through a strong representation of the newer material.

My set list wish list for 2019 looks like this:

Where Dreams Go To Die
Take Hold Of The Flame
New Song
Screaming In Digital
Damaged
New Song
Guardian
Roads To Madness
Hellfire
Child Of Fire
Condition Human
Anybody Listening
New Song
Revolution Calling
In This Light
Open Road
Queen Of The Reich
Empire
Eyes Of A Stranger/Anarchy Xtra

* The song order could be played with and tweaked but this in my opinion would be a bad ass set. I know it drops Lucidity, I Don't Believe In Love and a few other popular tunes, but remember the whole point of this is to go out on a limb and change shit up. You can't do that if you leave too many "untouchables" in the set  list. I don't truly believe the set list changes will be this dramatic, but I would welcome it  8)

Agreed, 20 songs MINIMUM! Slightly off topic, I read that The Smashing Pumpkins are playing a 30 song set, reportedly just under 3 hours total. And that's WITH an opening act--- a band called Metric.

It shouldn't be that difficult a task for Queensryche to pull off a 50/50 set of current and classic material, specifically new OLD songs ( ;)). Hopefully they'll deliver for the next tour.  8)

Did not see any mention of the Ryche's first performance ever (!) in India.  As my home country's neighbor, this milestone has a special meaning for me.  Queensryche's entire performance is between 1:29:00 and 3:03:00 in this video.

My brother in law went to the Pumpkins show in NJ and said the first half was good, but the second half was awful, and he is a huge fan of theirs.  So sometimes more isn't always best.

Fair point frank, however, at least they're making an effort to satisfy casual fans and hardcore fans by playing a long set. I respect them for that.  8)

True.  I would like Queensryche to play about 20 songs.

Metric is awesome. I've seen them once or twice and they put on a terrific show.

Thanks for posting this! It's a really well-shot video.
That Man/Machine Imperfection guy didn't post too much, but he was pretty much always right.

WOW! It looks like Parker will be out temporarily and Mike Stone will be filling in for the shows with the Scorps, according to their Facebook page. Very cool! This should be interesting, at the very least.  :o... 8)

That one came out of left field. I guess Kelly Gray and Slater were unavailable  :D ;D

Would have been an opportunity to catch people off guard and get DeGarmo to briefly play with the band again, wishful thinking. None the less will be great to see Stone with the band again for a few shows.

Sounds cool, that will be interesting to see. Any word of why Parker couldn't make those shows?

Just says "taking care of personal business". Great replacement for the dates though that should be cool.
