Sacred Reich
« on: November 06, 2017, 05:46:21 PM »
Sacred Reich, is an American heavy metal and thrash band formed in 1985 in Phoenix, Arizona. The band was known for socially conscience and political speed metal at times mixing in some funk grooves, not unlike the Chili Peppers and Suicidal Tendencies but their material was usually heavier. Led by vocalist/bassist Phil Rind they released their debut album Ignorance in 1987 on Metal Blade, the band consisted of Phil Rind (vocals, bass), Willie Arnett (guitar), Jason Rainey (guitar) and Greg Hall (drums). This lineup is currently back together presently performing live as of the spring of 2017 performing their first North American tour in twenty one years. The band initially broke up in 2000, but regrouped for several shows in 2007 including the Wachen Open Air Festival. Also of note Metal Blade Records released a three disc box set (Europe only, but I'm sure it is available on the net if you wanted to track it down) this set featured re-mastered versions of Ignorance and Surf Nicaragua with additional bonus material including the Draining You of Life demo tape and a live dvd.

Discography:
Ignorance (1987)
Surf Nicaragua (1988)
The American Way (1990)
Independent (1993)
Heal (1996)
Live at Wacken (2012)

These guys had some good stuff and should have been more popular than they were. I had totally forgot about these guys until I saw a few guys wearing Sacred Reich tour shirts at the UFO/Saxon show I went to recently.

These guys are actually recording a new album for an early 2019 release, will be their first album since 1996. I think that wait beats both Metallica and Gun's and Roses  :D
