Top Releases of 2017
« on: September 13, 2017, 04:35:07 PM »
Since we're in the last third of the year, what are some of your favourite releases in 2017? Not much I can think of that really stands out, but off the top of my head, here's what I've been digging this year:

Aaron Buchanan and the Cult Classics - The Man with Stars on his Knees
The Cruel Knives - Side One (EP)
Galactic Empire - Galactic Empire
Mother Mother - No Culture
Whitehorse - Panther in the Dollhouse

Definitely Vain- Rolling with the Punches for me.
I don't listen to or buy much new music to be honest, unless I just happen to stumble upon something and that is what happened with the Vain album. I was checking out their material to add them up on the 80's metal bands board and picking stuff I liked when I realized that a few of those songs were actually from a newly released album and they were damn good, so I listened to and liked damn near the whole record. Major eighties throwback, but done right for a change  8)

Haven't gotten too much new stuff this year, but I like the Styx album and I really like the new Living Colour disc.

Yeah there hasn't been much new stuff I've been listening to this year either. I guess I've mostly been waist-deep in the new Twin Peaks (and related podcast discussions) to bother listening to a ton of new stuff.

I'm really looking forward to the new Hell in the Club and Europe releases this year.

Yeah the new Styx is very good.

Not much grabbed my attention for 2017. Styx, Deep Purple, and Sons of Apollo would probably be my top picks.
